Five Macmillan Cancer Information Centres officially open!
Patients, carers and the public can now visit designated Macmillan Information Centres in each of the Hospital Trusts in Mid Trent. Centres can be found in:
-
Lincoln County Hospital
-
Pilgrim Hospital, Boston
-
Grantham District Hospital
-
City Hospital, Nottingham
-
Kingsmill Hospital, Mansfield
The centres, funded by Macmillan Cancer Support work in partnership with local hospital Trusts, providing information and support to anyone affected by cancer, either directly or because a family member or friend has been diagnosed with cancer.
Macmillan Information and Support Services Lead for ULHT, Caroline Boyer, said: "People often have questions and concerns that they don't feel able to raise with medical staff. They might want advice on applying for financial benefits, information cancer prevention and screening or to make contact with a self help and support group or just have a chat with someone who has time to listen to any worries," she said.
"These are the sort of questions the Information Facilitators and trained volunteers in the centres can help with backed up with a wide range of leaflets and booklets on every aspect of cancer. You can drop by without an appointment and our service is completely confidential and free-of-charge."
Macmillan Service Development Manager Kathy Blythe, said: "These centres are a brilliant addition to the cancer services we offer to the people of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire as they provide a valuable source of information and support to cancer patients, their friends and families."
Contact details and opening times of the centres can all be found on the Macmillan Cancer Support Website
